Commentary
As the successor of the BELLETT, based on GM’s first World Car Concept "T-Car," this small passenger car was developed jointly with GM which signed a partnership agreement with Isuzu in 1971.
The World Car Concept was an international production system put in place to produce cars on a global scale. The GEMINI was based on the design by Germany’s Adam Opel AG, a GM group company, and Isuzu’s unique technologies were added for the Japanese market. The body types were sedan and coupe.
GEMINI models were exported to Australia and the U.S. The GEMINI, assembled from knock-down parts and components at GM Holden, enjoyed a high reputation by winning the 1975 Australia Car of the Year.

Origin of a name
GEMINI was taken from Gemini the constellation and stood for our wish that the Global Car developed jointly with GM would bring Isuzu and its customers together with trust.
