Ability to take on new business challenges

Please tell me your job duties.

I joined Isuzu Motors in 2008 and currently work in the sales department, where I am involved in running the secretariat for formulating domestic medium-term plans, analyzing the performance of the used car business, conducting market marketing activities, managing business companies, and planning and implementing new businesses such as the circular economy.

What do you like about Isuzu? What are its charms?

I think the appeal of Isuzu is that it allows you to take on a variety of challenges.

When do you feel a sense of accomplishment or fulfillment in your work? What is interesting about your current job?

As the domestic sales secretariat, I was involved in the handling of maintenance leasing for large trucks that utilize remanufactured remanufactured units from used products, which was announced in October 2022. There were many challenges, such as creating proposals and coordinating within the company, but with the support of my superiors and the cooperation of many departments, including development, production, and quality assurance, we were able to successfully bring it to market. I am proud that this initiative, in which I participated as the secretariat, was featured on the front page of the Nikkei newspaper, and I still treasure the original copy.

当時、ISUZU IDはまだありませんでしたが、「新車を製造するメーカーが、あえて新車を製造しないことでCO_{2}を削減させる新たな事業領域」といういすゞだからできる「斬新」な取り組みだと思っています。

Please tell us how you feel Isuzu has changed recently and what you yourself are trying to change.

I feel that Isuzu has changed in many ways. For example, since the establishment of ISUZU ID, the distance between executives and Board of Directors and Officers has become closer, as seen in the holding of town hall meetings. I also think it is good that comments from the chairman and president, such as financial results explanations, which were previously only available to a select few, are now available via video.

When I first joined the company, most people would use titles such as "Director of XX", but now I make a conscious effort to address people in the company, even my superiors, with the honorific "san".

Tell us your "I Do" statement*.

*いすゞを形成する従業員一人ひとりが ISUZU ID を自分ごととして捉え、自らの行動を変える具体的な宣言。

My "I Do declaration" is to "increase the number of people who call me by a nickname." This is because I believe that even a slight reduction in the distance between people will help create an environment where it's easier to talk to them.

What actions will you take to achieve the four ISUZU ID No. 1s?

In order to achieve "No. 1 job satisfaction," we not only respect each other's opinions, but also want to create an environment where junior employees can have successful experiences, in order to increase "satisfaction."

Regarding ISUZZ ID's core value of "Mutual Empowerment," how is it currently contributing to this?

I felt we could trust each other when, in order to run a meeting, I was asked to check materials that a junior colleague had prepared. Instead of teaching him step by step, I simply explained the key points and left him to his own devices.

As a result, almost no revisions were necessary, and the output exceeded expectations, which made me realize the growth of my juniors and reminded me of the importance of trusting each other.

A message to those considering joining Isuzu

Isuzu Motors may have a somewhat rigid image as a commercial vehicle manufacturer, and while that is true, that is about to change.

As we are undergoing change as a company, we hope you will join us as we experience change and growth together!
